13 DAY BOTSWANA TOUR

THE 13 DAY BOTSWANA TOUR

The Kalahari Desert covers about 70 percent of Botswana, making it one of the most sparsely populated countries in the word. Yet this landlocked country is home to an abundance of plains game, huge herds of buffalo and plenty of Africa’s apex predators. The magnificent Chobe National Park is a refuge for the world’s biggest population of Kalahari elephants, and the virtually untouched Okavango Delta is a World Heritage Site and arguably one of Nature’s greatest masterpieces – one of Africa’s last remaining Gardens of Eden.

Our Botswana safari itineraries range from luxury to rugged adventure and are ideal for photo safaris and multi-generational family vacations.

Most guests arrive in South Africa at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg for the start of this safari where you will be met by a member of the African Spirit Safari Team and a 3 hours drive to a Lodge in the Limpopo province, built around a wildlife photography gallery once you have checked in and settled in your rooms.

Other than that, you will be well fed and watered with African Spirit Safaris with all the meals and drinks (soft and local beers with a few different alcoholic liquors) included in the package.

From Only: R80 500.00 per person

Day 1

After an early breakfast we will leave the Lodge to cross over the border into Botswana. We will reach our first camp site in the late afternoon at Elephant Sands where you will be welcomed by Elephants at the waterhole.

Day 2-4

We will be leaving Elephant Sands, to meet with our next destination in the area of the NaxiNaxi Pans. There will be large mammals around such as Oryx, springbok, brown hyena, black-maned lions, jackals as well as cheetah and wild dogs also do well here. Different and surprising too as you would expect based on the ecosystem.

After the morning activity and a quick bite to eat, we will be traveling to Maun the small town of The Okavango Delta. Early the next morning we will go to the Airport for a charter flight over The Okavango Delta.

Day 6 -7

After a beautiful scenic flight over the delta we will be traveling into the Moremi to the Khwai river where we will be camping next to the river under huge Vachellia trees. A vast number of animals such as Hippo’s, crocodiles, waterbuck and many more plain games and birdlife will be surrounding us. In the Moremi , we will spend most of our time looking for the big cats and wild dog as there are thriving populations of both in the Moremi area.

Day 8 -9

After a quick game drive and an exquisite bush breakfast we will be leaving for our next destination, Savuti. Being a concession (as opposed to a National Park) we are also allowed to off-road at special sightings to get into better positions and we can also do night drives to see the nocturnal predators like Lions, Leopards and Hyena in action.

Day 10 - 12

The Chobe River is the only constant water source in the Northern Section of the Chobe National Park and attracts huge herds of elephants and plains game to its banks. The river is also home to plenty of hippo and crocodiles and hundreds of species birds including one of the healthiest populations of Fish Eagles in Africa. African Spirit Safaris offers morning and afternoon game drives and boat cruises in the Chobe National Park.

On these activities, you will be accompanied by a African Spirit Safari Photo Host who will be on hand to make sure you make the most of the photo opportunities that present themselves. The journey from Botswana across the border to Victoria Falls takes about an hour in our comfortable vehicles for the full day.

Optional:

Not included in the standard package: A charter flight and take in the magnificent spectacle of the Falls not only on a guided tour along the edge of the canyon but also from the sky on a 25-minute helicopter flight.
